Should be noted as an environmental advantage that CO2 and Greenhouse Gases emissions are reduced in the following quantities:

–        CO2 emissions are reduced in  2.028.024,50 tonsCO2/year,  this is a saving of 48 million Euros per year for Spain.

–        Emissions for the energy industries, in special for Mont-Negre, are 146 Kton for Sulphur oxides (SOx), 177.6 Kton for Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 2.8 Kton for particulate matter (PM). If you take into account the costs of each of the gases 30€/ton, 15€/ton and 100 €/ton respectively, you can calculate the savings that Mont-Negre would produce for Spain, a figure that reaches 7.32 million euros per year.

 

The plant has been designed in order to comply with the strictest environmental regulations. In this regard, the central building to the plant as well as all water mains are underground. The upper water reservoir that will be built will have a surface of 320 hectares that would reach a total of 450 hectares if the surface of the barrage with its crest road is added.

The power transformer station would be located on the upper plain next to the new reservoir but in a sink so as to minimize the visual impact of the station.
